last weekend, 3-5 August 1st group of nerds South Florida made our b * tch. I speak Nerdapalooza, an annual celebration of music covering nerdcore geek, hard rock, chiptunes, and other genres. Think MAGFest, only smaller and with an almost exclusive emphasis on the music -. Nerdapalooza This was my second. My first was last year when it took place at the Marriott Orlando Airport. Accustomed to large events, which was released, it is true that the smaller scale, but not slow to appreciate the more personal atmosphere. It is also easier to come up with your favorite artists after their set and shoot the breeze for a few minutes.

Nerdapalooza 2012 was reduced to the social and Beacham, two music rooms adjacent to the heart of downtown Orlando. Nerda was much darker and stronger than last year, but with acts like the Protomen, The Megas, and the return of the NESkimos, I'd be lying if I said it was absolutely amazing.

It was a bit of a cloud hanging over the process, unfortunately. Two prominent members of the community were killed last year, "Triforce" Mike Pandel and "MC Gigahertz" Joshua Montgomery. Mike was a key member of the Salon Nerdy podcast, host Nerdapalooza officer, while MC Gigahertz was a nerdcore artist who performed at the show in the past.

Mike's death was that he felt especially on weekends, given the proximity of him and Nerda founder John "hex" Carter were. On the positive side, there was an outpouring of love from the audience and artists. It was very moving, the perfect farewell for a fallen friend.

But enough about that! Want to hear the music, right? Let me break the day.

Friday
